Why I joined Holistic Kids Australia, as both a parent and a practitioner

As a Bowen therapist, I’ve always believed that the body tells a story.

But becoming part of Holistic Kids Australia wasn’t just a professional decision for me, it was personal too.

Because I’m not only a practitioner… I’m also a parent.

And like so many parents, I’ve had moments where I’ve looked at my child and thought,
“Something just doesn’t feel quite right.”

Not always something you can explain.
Not always something that shows up clearly.
But you feel it.

Seeing it through both lenses

Being both a parent and a practitioner has completely shaped the way I support families.

As a practitioner, I understand:

  • how the body stores stress and tension

  • how the nervous system responds to overwhelm

  • how gentle techniques like Bowen can support release

But as a parent, I understand something just as important…

What it feels like to:

  • worry about your child

  • question if you’re doing the right thing

  • want natural, gentle options

  • feel dismissed or told “they’ll grow out of it”

That’s why joining Holistic Kids Australia felt so aligned.

What Holistic Kids Australia represents

Holistic Kids Australia is about looking at the whole child, not just the symptom.

It brings together practitioners who understand that:

  • emotions and the body are connected

  • behaviour can be communication

  • nervous system support is key

  • children need to feel safe, not “fixed”

And as both a mum and a practitioner, that approach just makes sense.

How this shows up in my clinic

When families come in, I’m not just looking at what’s physically happening.

I’m gently observing the bigger picture.

Is this child:

  • holding tension in their body?

  • feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated?

  • struggling to settle or switch off?

Because often what shows up as:

  • sleep issues

  • tummy aches

  • growing pains

  • emotional outbursts

…is the body asking for support.

This is where Bowen therapy fits in so beautifully.

It’s gentle, calming, and gives the body space to reset, without force.

Why this matters for you

You’re not overthinking it.

If you’ve felt that instinct that something isn’t quite right, there’s usually a reason.

Being part of Holistic Kids Australia allows me to support you from both places, with knowledge and with understanding.

Because I get it, not just professionally, but personally too.
