FAQs

Bowen therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that aims to promote healing and relaxation. It involves the therapist using their fingers or thumbs to make precise rolling movements over specific points on the body, known as "Bowen moves." These moves stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms and encourage balance and harmony within the body.
Unlike acupuncture, Bowen therapy does not involve the use of needles. Instead, it focuses on subtle manipulation of the soft tissue, muscles, and tendons. Clients often describe the sensation during a Bowen therapy session as gentle and relaxing, with some experiencing a deep sense of relaxation or even falling asleep during the treatment.
The gentle and precise moves stimulate sensory receptors in the muscles, tendons, and fascia, which send signals to the brain. The brain needs time to interpret these signals and initiate appropriate responses for healing and rebalancing. This aspect of Bowen therapy allows for a profound therapeutic effect on various physical and emotional conditions, promoting overall well-being.

Typically, a series of three to five sessions spaced about one week apart is recommended to allow the body to respond and integrate the therapy effectively. However, this can vary, and your Bowen therapist will be able to assess your progress and recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you.
